自己紹介

こんにちは!
I am a programmer based in Chiba, Japan. I love to build things and believe that design and quality are keys to a successful product. By combining my passion for programming, I have been automating tests for a huge part of my professional career. I specialize in web development and test automation. I love JavaScript and use it for most of my projects. I do a lot of cycling, running, hiking, and bouldering (noob lol). I also play a lot of video games and likes internet pop culture!

QA Engineer at Mercari, Inc.Here, I was tasked to take ownership of the Detox directory in a React Native codebase. I mainly work with TypeScript and GitHub Actions configuration. It is my first time to handle mobile app test automation so it was a tough challenge and I am the only QA in our department working in this area. This position requires a lot of patience as you have to deal with build times, Android & iOS differences, local & CI issues, etc. But it is fun and feels that the work I do here is meaningful. People are really nice and the company is very developer friendly!- Left Corekara, Inc.
- Moved to Matsudo-shi, ChibaThe Ota-ku apartment is made out of paper. And the guy beside me slams his sliding door really loud which wakes me up in the middle of the night. I decided to find a detached house instead and it was the best thing I did as I finally found peace. The neighbors here are also nice. They greet, give gifts, and smile like real people which I never experienced with my neighbors in Tokyo.
- The best bicycle ride of my life (for now?)I covered this ride in an article which you can find here. I experienced the city, the mountains, the beach, the cold, and the hot during this 300-kilometer ride which I accomplished in 25 hours.
- Moved to Ota-ku, TokyoUnfortunately, I had a yankee neighbor and was forced to move-out from Adachi-ku. The area is well known for bullies and my neighbor was one of them. He seems like rich and can live without a job because he drinks every single night with his friends blasting loud music, singing, and banging the walls. After one neighbor involved the police—which did absolutely nothing, he got aggressive so I decided to move-out.
- Moved to Tokyo, JapanAfter a long wait, I was able to gather all the required exit documents and move to Tokyo. With me were 2 suitcases and a bicycle box. The first suitcase was for my clothes, and the other was for my desktop PC parts. I was able to get a nice apartment in Adachi-ku. It was in front of the Arakawa river which has a long cycling road that I use almost everyday.
- Left Argano
Software QA Engineer at Corekara, Inc.This company brought me to Japan. I was tasked to automate tests for the AdSIST plus web application and was free to use whichever language I want so I used Selenium with Java since I was comfortable with it. When I started automating tests for the main AdSIST application, I used Playwright with JavaScript, because management wants to use JavaScript as the standard for the engineering department. During this time they hired a new CTO and along with the development team manager—they went anti-QA and restructured the team. We were transferred to different positions until I decided to move-on with this company. They underwent some financial issues and the quality of their software is suffering by the time I left.
Software QA Engineer at ArganoCOVID is over and the job market is at an all-time high. I really did not want to leave Balsam but their offer was too high to decline. Here, I worked with MuleSoft developers. I was deployed to QVC. A quite established company but their processes are not up to standards. I could not believe a company will make you connect to a virtual machine to work, but I could also not complain as the pay was high! The latency was killing me. All the input lag like mouse movement delays were unacceptable. Good thing I only did manual testing here. The workload was not so much and I was able to work two jobs along with Corekara.- Left Balsam Brands
- I bought a road bicycleI decided to take cycling on a next level so I bought a road bicycle, a Giant SCR 2 2022. I was able to reach places faster and travel longer distances with this. I also started learning about the parts and how to fix each one of them to the point that I never went to a bicycle mechanic ever again. I consider this bicycle as one of my treasures in life.
- I started riding bikes seriouslyWhile I've been cycling since I was a kid, this is where I started to take it more seriously and do long distance rides. I bought a Trinx Dolphin 2.0 folding bicycle. I was able to go around nearby provinces and target a 100-kilometer ride each weekend, averaging 150-200 km per week. Buying this bicycle was the best decision I ever made as it changed my life both physically and mentally.
Software QA Engineer at Balsam BrandsThis company taught me a lot. I am very thankful to everyone I worked with in this company. My experience here made me never want to work for a Filipino-style corporate environment again. I had good benefits and double my previous salary here. It is a Christmas decor company which offer their products to five countries. Here, I worked with both manual and automation QA tasks across five customer-facing e-commerce web applications and various backend systems under the SAP ecosystem. We use Selenium Java to automate tests with a well-maintained codebase.- Bad decisions and failuresFrom July 2018 to November 2018, I made two bad decisions. One was working in a company near our house. It was just a fifteen minute walk. I was referred by my high school friend here and because I trusted him, I accepted their offer instead of Accenture's. Although Accenture offers a bit more, I did not want to commute two to three hours so I chose this. But the environment was so bad. I was bullied here because they found out that I interned for Solutions Resource. Some of my co-workers there apparently worked here and made a mess where even legal was involved. I was not allowed to touch the repository because they cannot trust me. They gave me instructions drawn in a crumpled paper and said that I need to build this part of the application from scratch, submit it to them, and they will be the one to merge it. But I have no access to the codebase so I do not really know how I could accomplish that task. Another bad decision was to work with an agency. They deployed me to a company that I did not know was a "networking" (pyramiding scheme) company. My first task was to QA their systems in a country somewhere in Africa after the government decided to ban them from the country. I had to make sure the systems were properly shutdown and all the data was properly backed-up. There was also a big demonstration in India because someone took his own life after losing all his money investing in their program. I left these two companies immediately. During these five months I was worried about my future and regretted decision no. 1 too much.
- Left CXO Project
Full Stack Developer at CXO ProjectThis company is a Singaporean start-up which hosts cybersecurity events in the South East Asia region. I was able to travel to Singapore during one of their events. I used Laravel and Angular here.- Left Game Ops, Inc.
Game Operations Specialist at Game Ops, Inc.I worked as a game master with famous video game companies like Nexon. The work itself was fun but the environment was very toxic so people here come-and-go. In 2024, an ex-employee exposed this company in a Reddit thread garnering a huge amount of attention which made other ex-employees speak out about the toxic work environment and even sexual harassment experiences.- Graduated from AMA Computer UniversityI got my Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree on the exact day as my birthday! My mother gave me a gold colored G-Shock watch which I consider one of my treasures in life.
Backend Development Intern at Solutions Resource, Inc.A small company situated inside the University of the Philippines. I learned a lot about tech stacks, architecture, and project management here since we did not tackle those areas in the university in a larger degree. I was introduced to Laravel here. It was the golden days of Laravel. My seniors here were really nice and talented but later in my life, I faced some issues because of my experience here.- University life in AMA Computer UniversityI was conflicted whether I should pursue arts or tech but I finally settled with tech. I took the Information Technology course in AMA Computer University as during this time, it was famous for producing highly-skilled tech workers. But in my experience, the education and technology was way below my expectations. But I met a lot of my life-long friends here and I had the best batchmates where while there were certain groups that have formed throughout the years, we were never divided and respected the interests of each other. It was the opposite of high school where a huge divide exist between each groups because of conflicts in religion and interests. Elitism and bullying was rampant.
- My first computerMy first computer was a dual-core Athlon with 2 GB memory and a 9500 GT GPU. It was bought before I started 4th grade to help me with my studies. I used it until I finished high school with some minor upgrades. This is the only picture I can find taken somewhere around 2011.
- Born in Manila, PhilippinesBorn in a methodist household. I grew up reading books, drawing, and playing JRPGs.
